Mr Kelly the Storyteller
Hello! My name is Graeme. My passion for storytelling began during a traditional arts week in Durham where I was taught by the legendary Taffy Thomas, the UK's first Laureate for Storytelling. Taffy inspired me to have a go for myself so during the pandemic, I created a Youtube channel. Here, I broadcast daily stories for my school under the moniker of Mr Kelly the Storyteller.
My Story
My first career was working as a weather forecaster for the Press Association, Met Office, and British Antarctic Survey. I have since clocked up 12 years of teaching experience with both adults and children. Presently, I am supporting South Tyneside Libraries by leading a project to promote wellbeing in the community.
In recent years, I have combined my love of language with my desire to teach and inspire others by sharing stories as a professional storyteller. Teaching has taught me that everyone has their own unique way of learning and engaging with the world. I strive to tap into this individuality with each and every storytelling session. With my varied background, I have a wealth of experiences to draw from in order to bring stories to life and captivate audiences.
